Partial blockage of Kidney
Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJO)
Kidney drainage is impaired
Can be seen as Hydronephrosis on Kidney Ultrasound
Often requires MAG3/Dynamic Renal Scan Test
Often requires surgery (Pyeloplasty)
Partial blockage of Ureter (tube that drains Kidney) at Bladder
Ureterovesical Junction Obstruction (UVJO)
Kidney drainage is impaired and so is the drainage of the Ureter
Can be seen as Hydronephrosis and Hydroureter on Kidney Ultrasound
Often requires surgery (Reimplantation of Ureter)
Double Ureters
Ureteral Duplication
Two tubes drain the kidney on one side
Tubes may insert wrongly causing blockage or backup of urine
Balloon in bladder
Ureterocele
Tube that connects kidney to bladder has balloon on one end
May cause blockage and require surgery
Large swollen Ureter

May be due to urine going backwards
May be due to drainage problem
May or may not require surgery
Narrowing in pee tube

Typically only seen in boys
May be due to previous surgery (for example Hypospadias repair)
